Life
Born on September 7, 1533 in Greenwich, England
Only child of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn
When she was 2 years and 8 months old her mother was executed on May 19, 1536
She was declared illegitimate and deprived of her place in the royal succession
Catherine Champerowne taught her French, Flemish, Italian, and Spanish
When William Grindal became tutor in 1544 she could write English, Latin, and Italian
Under Grindal she progressed in French and Greek
When Grindal died in 1548 she got her education under Roger Ascham til 1550
She got cut out of succession by her half brother, Edward VI, in spite of the statute law to the contrary
In 1558 she succeeded her half sister, Mary, to take the throne on November 17th
During Mary's reign she had been imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting protestant church
A series of friends deaths in 1602 plunged her into depression
In March of 1603 she fell sick
She died March 24, 1603 at Richmond Palace between 2-3 in the morning
She was buried at Westminster Abbey in a tomb she shares with her sister, Mary
